MP3, VIDEO: DEERHUNTER’S HELICOPTER AS REMIXED BY DIPLO

Deerhunter live performance at Soho Apple store – Photo from Pitchfork.com
It’s no secret that the new Deerhunter album Halcyon Digest is flippin’ awesome and they are playing Laneway Fest in Auckland on Jan 31st and you may’ve even got wind that the band has found a new fan in producer/DJ Diplo.

Diplo has spun some remix gold with Helicopter and you, you lucky beggar, can get that puppy here!

Helicopter (Diplo ; Lunice Remix) [mp3]

Then another clever monkey gets their hands on the remix and makes this clip!! Ahh… all hail the internet!

This clip directed by Shifty Rhythms (the same people behind the EPIC Kanye clip currently doing the rounds).

The director took footage from a short film titled “Slow Moscow” which you can view here, though we think this new soundtrack is a ton better than the former.
Halcyon Digest is out now through 4AD/ RHYTHMETHOD

Today Warpaint’s debut album ‘The Fool’ hits the shelves. NME give it 9/10, The UK Guardian call it ‘mesmerising’ and The UK Sun label the LA four-piece ‘the best new band of 2010’. Not that we’re in anyway biased, but we highly recommend you give it a spin too…

News: White Stripes 10 Years since first NZ visit, Early single sells for $18’000USD at auction

NME reported yesterday -  FULL STORY ON NME HERE

Yowza! Check your collections folks – well actually you’d be pretty lucky to have one of these – only 15 hand-painted copies of 2nd single Lafayette Blues exist. Hand painted by Jack White and label boss Dave Buick the report tells us. And there’s an even rarer collecter’s pieces exist in Detroit furniture.. yet to be discovered. Brilliant!

Jack & Meg White are two of my most admired creatives – the music of course but every other little thing – design, ideas, merch, their choice of support crew, the record label Third Man Records have always and continue to be innovative and laden with integrity…. bloody love it. Hope to cover some more on Third Man in a piece I’m developing on all these amazing labels I get to work with. There are great lessons to be had that could possibly help the NZ music scene… anyway.. I digress!…

THIS SATURDAY 4.10PM – SET YOUR ALARM!  Radio NZ National take a very clever look back at  the important role NZ played in The White Stripes early career and the importat role The White Stripes played in giving some of our bands a leg-up on the international stage!
The official RNZ blurb: –

It’s the 10th anniversary of the rock sensations first tour to the Pacific – in fact it was just about the first time the White Stripes played outside of their hometown of Detroit – and well before making it big in the United Kingdom.
It was a significant event for New Zealand music too, leading to several local acts and agents being introduced to the international stage.
Nick Bollinger talks to Jack White, members of The Datsuns and others influenced by six small gigs held across New Zealand in October 2000.

There’s a raft of White Stripes albums – all worthy of being in your collection but the latest release – Under Great White Northern Lights contains the fantastic documentary and live album that gives a new perspective to the band. Out now on Third Man / XL / Rhythmethod…
