She also wrote an arrangement for Hamrahlíðarkórinn, a choir conducted by Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir. The album was edited and structured by Björk on Protools. It was engineered by Bergur Þórisson, Bart Migal and Chris Elms. It was mixed by Heba Kadry and Marta Salogni and mastered by Mandy Parnell . Continue reading →
Earlier in the week, Gorilla vs. Bear premiered the Ellie Herring remix. Of this edit, Dream Wife had to say: “In Ellie’s remix of ‘Fire’ the song takes on a new and moody form. It’s exciting to hear this transformation of something so familiar to us.”
Ellie commented: “Remixing ‘Fire’ was challenging in the sense that I did what I normally do by creating 12 edits in 3 different genres… but then multiply that by 10. I’m exaggerating, but this production timeline really caught me in one of my more indecisive stints of 2017 & I overworked it until pigs flew. Fortunately Dream Wife handed over a lot of great cuts from the original; I pulled off the shredding guitar riffs & focused more on keeping Rakel’s vocal lead towards the front. The remix ended up more of a rework, but in a format that I’ve been playing out lately.”
Rakel Mjöll (lead vocals)
Alice Go (guitar and vocals)
Bella Podpadec (bass and vocals).
PRAISE FOR DREAM WIFE
“Dream Wife have made the perfect song for Leo season.” The FADER
“Icelandic-Brightonian three-piece with the attitude of New York punks and pizazz of disco queens.” The Guardian
“A well-oiled machine worthy of the Strokes but performed with the righteous indignation of Bikini Kill…snappy, punk-informed rock ‘n’ roll.” Stereogum
“Dream Wife is a perfect example of what makes SXSW special, the discovery and excitement of seeing something real that has feeling and meat to it, and makes you grateful you were there to witness it.” NPR Music
“Dream Wife offer a soundtrack ripe for a punk Sofia Coppola movie soundtrack.” NYLON

Alvvays will drop their highly anticipated sophomore album in under a month, and today the Toronto-based group are giving us another taste of new music with the infectious “Plimsoll Punks”. The song is the band’s answer to Television Personalities’ “Part-Time Punks” and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend. Check out the new track here.
The previously released tracks “In Undertow” and “Dreams Tonite” show a band on the brink of releasing their best material yet. Pitchfork notes on “Dreams Tonite” that the “new sound nods to the Chromatics and Beach House, touching upon their moody temperament while fleshing out their emotional explorations.” Rolling Stonepraised “In Undertow” in their Playlist section, writing “Canadian guitar romantics Alvvays mix pleasant noises and chill dejection, and the result is a perfect indie-rock lullaby.”
EARLY PRAISE FOR ANTISOCIALITES
“Alvvays never second-guess their core strength: anthemic, arm-swaying hooks that aim for the stars even when the sky is gray.” – Pitchfork
“The band has kept their rivers of reverb, which sometimes makes them sound as though they’re playing to an empty middle-school gymnasium, an image that fittingly blends sweetness with melancholy.” – Vulture
“Lead single ‘In Undertow’ contains all of the elements that were initially so charming about the Toronto five-piece blown up to fuzzy and dreamy new heights.” – Stereogum
“The great thing about Alvvays is that they know what they do well – create objectively good, beautiful indie pop – and they are evidently doing it again with ‘Antisocialites'” – Uproxx

Watch the beautiful new video for ‘Looking For The Rain’ The Road: Part 1 out August 18 on Pod / Rhythmethod
After a rollercoaster twenty-five year career as an artist, curator and tastemaker, James Lavelle returns with UNKLE’s fifth studio album: The Road: Part 1, out Friday August 18 on Pod via Inertia Music / Rhythmethod, a collection of fifteen new UNKLE tracks inspired by his curation of 2014’s Meltdown Festival at Southbank in London.
Lavelle has premiered the visuals for the latest single off the album, “Looking For The Rain”, a call to arms in our turbulent modern world, written by long-time collaborator Mark Lanegan with string arrangements by Will Malone (Massive Attack, “Unfinished Symphony” and UNKLE’s “Lonely Soul” amongst others). The video, by visual artist Doug Foster, was created by “filming a variety of subjects from nature, such as water, crystals and plants. The footage was composited in several stages to eventually form a moving tunnel of light that features synchronised repetition and bilateral symmetry.”
ODESZA Reveal New Music Video For ‘Line Of Sight’ (feat. WYNNE & MANSIONAIR)
Touring September 2017:
Thursday September 14 – Great Hall, Auckland NZ
ODESZA (Harrison Mills, Clayton Knight) has today unveiled their new music video for ‘Line Of Sight (feat. WYNNE & Mansionair)’, a stylish, visually striking sci-fi tale shot in Hawaii.
With it’s vivid juxtaposition of sci-fi elements strewn amidst a tropical paradise, ‘Line Of Sight’ aligns ODESZA’s epic, infectious tune with the story of an unlikely bond between a boy and a robot. Directed by Daniel Brown with live-action production company UNHEARD/OF, the young protagonist’s ingenuity and sense of survival in the most isolated of sanctuaries pairs a beautiful visual accompaniment to the already cinematic track.
