WHITNEY ANNOUNCES ‘LIGHT UPON THE LAKE: DEMO RECORDINGS’ OUT NOVEMBER 10TH
Whitney are pleased to announce the release of Light Upon The Lake: Demo Recordings coming out November 10th, and share the previously unreleased song, “You and Me.” The track was written in 2014-2015 during the early sessions for Light Upon The Lake.
Whitney have shared tracks from a session at Spotify Singles, including a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You,” which has been a staple of the band’s recent live shows, and Light Upon The Lake standout “The Falls.” Continue reading →

Ahead of their forthcoming visit, Whitney have unveiled the official video for their new single, “Polly.” Tokyo-based award-winning animator and illustrator Sarina Nihei directed, animated and hand-painted the entire video over the course of two months. It focuses on vices that serve as causes for broken relationships between people and also represents the idea that no one is able to understand other people’s actual feelings.
One of our favourite new bands this year is Whitney, a fresh collaboration between ex-Smith Westerns guitarist,Max Kakacekand ex-UMO drummer (who also sings), Julien Ehrlich. This week, the duo shared their third single off the highly anticipated debut album, Light Upon The Lake, out this Friday o n Secretly Canadian. Light Upon The Lake marks the culmination of a short, but incredibly intense, creative period for the band. To say that Whitney is more than the sum of its parts would be a criminal understatement.
