CONGRATULATIONS

THE XX

WINNERS 2010 MERCURY PRIZE

Certainly some of the nicest folk we’ve met here at The Label HQ. It was our pleasure to feed and water them and culturally enrich them with episodes of “The InBetweeners”.. err.. ok…maybe not… funny though!

UK trio The XX
have taken out the highly prestigious Mercury Prize award for most outstanding album in recognition for their critically acclaimed, self titled debut XX.
The XX beat 11 other acts including Dizzee Rascal, Mumford and Sons, Paul Weller and Laura Marling for the honour.

Released in August last year, the album XX has achieved outstanding heights, winning the Guardian’s First Album Award, being voted as album of the year by both Rough Trade Shops and XFM, being the highest British entry in the HMV Poll of Polls, and receiving two South Bank and one NME Award nominations. XX has achieved silver status in the UK, gold status in France, has sold over 100,000 records in the US, and over 15,000 is Australia -racking up over 300,000+ worldwide sales. Meanwhile The XX’s live reputation has gone from strength to strength, selling out tours in the UK, USA, Australia and mainland Europe.

Congratulations The XX!
