Sal Valentine shares new single “Just Another Lover”, announces CHURCH EP

2 mins read
Released TODAY – Friday 12th May – is “Just Another Lover”, the second single to be taken from the forthcoming Church EP featuring the stunning standout vocals of Babyshakes’ Siobhan Leilani and Chelsea Prastiti. “Just Another Lover” was written in 2013 after Valentine navigated a string of disappointing romantic encounters. The honest, tongue and cheek nature of the lyrics offers a refreshing change from the standard ‘declaration-of-love’ trope suffered by most pop music. Listen to “Just Another Lover” here

“Just Another Lover” follows on from the first single taken from the EP, “Elizabeth I’ve Been A Fool” which was released late 2016. The track embraces an aggressive rhythm section, punchy horns, lush backing vocals, heart-on-sleeve lyrical delivery. It documents a dark time for the frontman. Listen to “Elizabeth I’ve Been A Fool” here

The eight track Church EP is the highly anticipated, long awaited follow up to the 2014 EP Live at No. 10 South Streeand the debut self titled Sal Valentine & The Babyshakes album released in 2013.

Tracking for the EP began in late 2015 in Jonathan Pearce’s Newton studio with the finishing touches finding their place in early 2017. On the Church EP Sal casts the net widely, infusing his writing with a love for pop music. Traces of Soul, RnB, Jazz, Hard Rock and Funk culminate in a mix that is indelible, unique and modern. The record features Valentine’s usual crew The Babyshakes at home in their regular instrumentation, with the addition of electric guitar laid down by Sal and Jonathan.
