VIVA LA SPOON!

Spoon has just wrapped up a massive week in New York City, first taking over The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon with a version of “Do I Have To Talk You Into It” that had the crowd roaring, then heading to Brooklyn Steel to play two sold-out nights. Pitchfork Live was there for the second show to live stream the performance.

If that wasn’t enough, they played three tracks and sat down for an interview at CBS This Morning on Saturday, then took to Town Hall to play Prairie Home Companion that night.

All of Spoon’s hard work this week hasn’t gone unnoticed: Spin, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, and many others picked up Spoon’s action this week. Scans on Hot Thoughts have doubled this week, and re-entered the iTunes charts, getting as high as #4 Alt this weekend.

The album has been on year end lists at Paste Magazine, Consequence of Sound, PopMatters, The Key WXPN to name only a few so far. Rolling Stone named “Hot Thoughts” one of their favourite tracks of the year, calling it a “Delicious dance-floor detour” that “conjures jittery tension from droning synths, frantic riffs and shrewdly deployed cowbell.”
