b& S the party line

“Far from being a revolution for B&S, their 13th single is a return to old ideals…the ‘Expectations’ singer can still pen an indie banger” – Drowned In Sound

“The Party Line,” sounds like a party indeed: The four-minute song bounces with melody, bumps with rhythm, and urges the listener, “Jump to the beat of the party line.” Don’t mind if we do.” – Spin

Watch ‘THE PARTY LINE’ – the first video from upcoming Belle & Sebastian album Girls In Peacetime Want to Dance

The film is the first from the band’s upcoming album Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, which is due for release in the UK on January 16th, 2015; a mere ten days before their first ever New Zealand performance at Laneway Festival in Auckland on the 26th.

Billboard Magazine recently reviewed ‘The Party Line’ as taking Belle & Sebastian’s “seductive indie-pop to new levels of funkiness”. For the video, Canadian directors Leblanc + Cudmore (Kevin Drew, Stephen Malkmus) and choreographer Robert Binet have created a surreal dance film with a story repeated in triptych.

The band also released an in-studio film featuring parts of the track ‘The Cat With The Cream’

Girls In Peacetime Want to Dance will be released on January 16th, 2015 via Matador / Rhythmethod. The ninth studio album from Belle and Sebastian was produced and mixed at Maze Studios in Atlanta by Ben H. Allen III, (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective, Deerhunter). Additional mixing took place in Glasgow with longtime collaborator Tony Doogan before being mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios.
