5-piece club shapeshifters formerly known as Quinze Quinze, 15 15 tee off a new era of super-charged Tahitian dance tracks (two of its five members are from the South Pacific island) with dem bow off-beats and party-ready synth stabs – air horns at the ready.

Listen to ‘Baon’

They have announced their newest interpretation to the island’s most celebrated club cultures, Ori Deck, SAPLIN. The 6-track project of ground-shaking bass and expressive beats is a zeitgeist of Tahiatian traditions, such as car bass contests and kite fights. Baon’ is the EP’s first offering and is 15 15’s “dedication to all the car bass enthusiasts of Polynesia, this track captures the energy of these contests that make the valleys of Tahiti tremble every weekend.”

Speaking on what inspired SAPLIN, 15 15 share: “The inspiration behind the project is the desire to capture the carefree spirit and vitality of Tahiti’s island youth through a contemporary and artistic lens. By adopting the term ‘saplin’ (a local term used as an insult to refer to people who cannot be taken seriously, carefree, or dilettante) from the local culture as the EP’s central theme, we aim to celebrate the simplicity and letting go that are inherent to this culture. In essence, the inspiration lies in the desire to blend Polynesian cultural roots with modern influences to create an authentic and captivating musical narrative.”

15 15 have paved their own lane of experimental r&b, disconcerting club sounds and electronica, conjuring up epic soundscapes coated in Moombahton and club-ready jaunts of the underground that’s been lauded byCrack, Dazed, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, NPR, and received a personal invitation by Benji Bto his prestigious Maida Vale 2022 ‘End Of Year Special’, alongside George Riley, Live and Ojerime.
