The Nudge release their brand new video for “Dark Arts”, title track for the trio’s second album due for release in February 2017. The Video shot by The Renegade Peach Project, is the outcome of friends and like minded artists collaborating in one of the most enigmatic places in Aotearoa, Great Barrier Island.

In 2016 NZ on Air awarded video funding for Dark Arts; a slow building, psychedelic and hypnotic track which starts off with a primal beat and slowly builds into a dark and dangerous cocktail of intoxicating alchemy.
In their own words: Initially when we had thought of ideas and the images that we would use to portray the album’s vibe, we imagined an element of the ocean and large waves. This tied into the nature of the record; a sonic ride on soundwaves.. this thinking formed the basis of the video, it would be both on land and in water, and would need to be psychedelic and open to interpretation.” – Iraia Whakamoe

The band would like to extend thanks to filmmakers Renegade Peach, who invited The Nudge to their whanau patch on the remote Island to film. The video captures glorious time lapse footage of the sky and sea in arguably  Aotearoa’s most scenic beach.

Wellington band The Nudge have built themselves a solid reputation based on their phenomenal live shows. Combining elements of psychedelic rock, soulful blues, and hypnotic rhythms the genre crossing band keep any dance floor pulsing long into the night. Five years since their last album, The Nudge triumphantly return with the single ‘Dark Arts’, taken from the new album ‘Dark Arts‘, set for release early 2017.

The Nudge debuted with the confident, blues driven Big Nudge Pie in 2010; a record steeped in the raw emotion of 60s Northern Soul, and Sunset Strip psychedelia. Over that time the band have all performed as part of Fly My Pretties (and in numerous other bands), four Nudge offspring have been born, the band has collaborated with world renowned composer John Psathas, and played countless club gigs and festival shows, most recently supporting Fat Freddy’s Drop on an epic NZ tour.
