With high praise from i-D, Paper, Notion, Fader and more, and a sound that melds neo-soul, R&B, and a love for Erykah Badu and Ella Fitzgerald, Andrea Valle has served up seven new contenders for song of the summer. Today, the Philly-based songstress drops her sophomore EP Lovergirl via b4. The seven-song EP includes recently released single “Wild,” which Zane Lowe called “an absolute stunner” on his Beats 1 show, Nylon praised as “sensual and glistening,” and whose video is an otherworldly digital get down directed by Sarah Nicole Francois.
On Lovergirl, Valle expands on her blueprints that “sit in the sweet spot between R&B and neo-soul” (i-D) and her masterwork of lovelorn lyrics. Themes of love, closure and self-worth run through the 7-track EP, almost entirely penned by Valle save for a feature from Brooklyn rapper AJRadico.
