Thursday, April 8, 2021 – One year ago NYC-via-Seoul electronic producer, DJ, and vocalist Yaeji released her debut, full-length project in the form of a diary-like mixtape titled WHAT WE DREW ??? ????. To commemorate the projects anniversary, Yaeji has shared a new music video for the mixtape’s bonus track “When in Summer, I Forget About the Winter, which takes the viewer through a collage of memories from Yaeji’s personal documentation of her journey alongside the making and release of WHAT WE DREW ??? ????. Also revealed today, Yaeji has designed new items for Yaeji-Mart including a new shirt and Woofa plush. Plus, fans can pre-order a new limited-edition blue version of the WHAT WE DREW ??? ???? vinyl, available for pre-order now: worldwide via Yaeji-Mart and Bandcamp, and in the U.S. via retailers and the XL webstore. Noted by Time Magazine, Stereogum, Billboard, Gorilla vs Bear, New Yorker, Pitchfork and more as one of the best albums of 2020, WHAT WE DREW ??? ???? is a reflection of Yaeji’s gratitude towards her community, family and friends during a period of growth that resulted in a newfound laser-focused creative vision for the artist. At the onset of WHAT WE DREW, Yaeji introduced a cast of animated companions (all illustrated by herself) including Woofa, who starred alongside Yaeji in the “WAKING UP DOWN” music video. Last year she launched an interactive web-based game titled Woofa Joofa Juice Club on http://yaeji.com/juiceclub/. With Woofa becoming the essential Yaeji companion, it only felt natural to create him in the form of a plush-stuffed toy doll, which is available now, along with other new merch, at Yaeji-Mart.

Since the release of WHAT WE DREW ??? ????, Yaeji has continued to find meaningful ways to support her community. In August 2020 she debuted Yaeji In Place, a live DJ set and fundraiser with Boiler Room. Last summer Yaeji announced she’d donate all profits of her yellow WHAT WE DREW ??? ???? vinyl sales, purchased on Yaeji Mart and Bandcamp, to two organizations, Black Trans Femmes in the Arts (BTFA) and Black Art Futures Fund (BAFF), and with her NTS radio residency “Kraeji w/Yaeji” is sharing tracks that are available for purchase on Bandcamp, including a Buy Music Club link alongside every episode here.
