Tāmaki Makaurau-based four-piece The Sour are a band of badass wāhine bonded by a shared love of grunge, punk, and all things loud and heavy. The group release their debut EP Daughters on May 1st 2026.
The first single from the EP, ‘Your God & Mine’, debuted at #1 on the bFM Top 10 and quickly grabbed the attention of listeners, DJs, and tastemakers across Aotearoa, cementing the band as one of the most exciting new heavy acts to watch.
“They bring a tune with forward momentum, a wiry guitar line which wriggles in and out of the buzzy song suggesting Arizona’s psychedelic desert-rock band Meat Puppets as much as local post-Nun indie-rock as an influence… A band to listen out for.” – The New Zealand Listener
The second single from the upcoming EP, ‘Hex’ (out now), is a grungy slackers’ anthem about revenge and being underestimated. If you’ve got some rage to work through, you’re revelling in a bit of schadenfreude, or you’re considering placing a hex on someone, this track is absolutely for you. Either way, it’s a banger built for repeat listens.
