ALDRCH releases exhilarating new EP

NYC artist-producer aldrch is releasing his supercharged project, would you like to go out? The follow-up to his 2023 debut album industry standard, aldrch’s music sonically dives head first into 2000s club rock revival while he lyrically speaks to his relationship with ego, envy, love, fate, and control.

New with today’s release is the song complex,’ a defiant and kinetic track. “‘complex’ is a song about getting older and seeing the true colors in those around you,” aldrch shares. “The lyrics are a bit somber, but I paired them with an upbeat and dancey instrumental. Go figure.”

To underscore, and at times, juxtapose with the EP’s lyrical themes, aldrch draws listeners “down the early 2000s club rock rabbit hole” by melding his lush production with the vibrant culture of the DIY show scene and Bloghouse movement as he borrows inspiration from artists like Justice, MGMT, MSTRKRFT, Digitalism, LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk, deadmau5, and more. “The music and culture of that time has played a role in all of my new music. So there’s definitely been crossover in my inspiration,” he says, between the new project and last September’s full-length.

Though aldrch originally envisioned the tracks on would you like to go out? as the deluxe version of industry standard, it quickly developed into a project with its own independent identity – “A response to industry standard more than an extension of it,” he says. Having previously tapped friends and collaborators like Curtis Waters, Madelline and Stevie Bill, just to name a few, would you like to go out? is aldrch on his own, grappling with the challenges of the twentysomething experience and the raw emotions that inevitably accompany it.

Often found hosting and DJ’ing his own rowdy events downtown, aldrch (the moniker of 23-year-old Sam Richman) has become a distinguished fixture within the NYC scene and beyond. With past tours accompanied by alt acts like poptropicaslutz!, Sophie Powers, Chloe Lilac, and more, aldrch has caught the eyes and ears of those at DSPs with key editorial backing from Spotify on The New Alt, Today’s Indie Rock, Indie Pop, New Noise, feedBack, and more, as he continues to forge his space in the indie realm.

“Nothing sounds like aldrch right now…nothing eclipses aldrch’s boundless production and mind-numbingly catchy melodies.” – The Luna Collective
