Nominated for “Emerging Artist of the Year” at 2018 Americana Awards and playing at Southern Fork Americana Fest in Auckland next month!

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews is in the midst of an extensive coast-to-coast USA headline tour, following her 2018 Fat Possum/Mama Bird Recording Co. released album May Your Kindness Remain, and has released a powerful new single, ‘Heart and Mind’, today. Andrews says she “wanted to write a song that embodies the importance of empowerment when you feel weakened by misrepresentation and/or sexual harassment.” Expanding on this she says that “Even if our bodies have been misused or taken advantage of, we have the power to speak with our hearts and minds. The most powerful way to display that message is with simple conversations with those who love us. The mother/daughter bond is incredibly powerful, and I use that to embody protection and safety in this song and video.”

Along with her headline tour in the USA, Andrews will make appearances at AmericanaFest in Nashville where she is nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year, Pilgrimage Festival in Franklin, TN, a special show at The Fillmore in Philadelphia with Shakey Graves and The Wild Reeds, as well as Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco, CA.  Andrews will also play with Margo Price and Joshua Hedley on a few of her Australia and New Zealand dates before heading back over to the UK to cap off an incredible 2018.

Courtney Marie Andrews’ May Your Kindness Remain showcases her unrelentless control as frontwoman, accompanied by illustrative lyricism and gospel-inspired harmonies. Andrews is able to win the hearts of many resulting in a recent nomination for “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2018 Americana Awards, alongside critics from NPR, Rolling Stone, Paste, and The Seattle Times raving about her new album.

“…a collection of songs, borne from interactions with others, that strives for healing and empathy in the midst of division and discord.” – NPR

“A punk-steeped folkie casting sideways glances at mainstream country à la Lucinda Williams…” – The Fader

…it’s a head-spinning discovery, a warm and gorgeous and fully formed piece of work. The kindness isn’t just in the lyrics. It’s in the way music like this can nourish you, can make your insides glow. An album like this can be a refuge.” – Sterogum

“…awash in church organ, lush harmonies, and a soaring, impassioned lead vocal from Andrews, whose twang quivers and shudders as she scales the song’s climactic final refrain.” – Rolling Stone

“…a rare blend of power and feeling that can bring you to your knees.” –Paste

Produced by Mark Howard (Lucinda Williams, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Tom Waits), May Your Kindness Remain is out now on Fat Possum Records/Mama Bird Recording Co. and continues to receive wide critical acclaim.
