“One of the most prolific bands to emerge out of New Zealand’s indie, noise rock, and punk scenes over the last decade”  – VICE

DieDieDie! could set fire to our first born and we’d still be staring at them in doe-eyed wonder”  – NME

T?maki Makaurau-based noise-punks DieDieDie! return with the announcement of new single ‘Seek Misery’, lifted from the band’s upcoming 7’’, set for release October 23rd.

The double A side ‘I Seek Misery’ backed with ‘450’ is the second release from the band since they reformed their original line-up of guitarist/vocalist Andrew Wilson, drummer Michael Prain and newly returned bassist Lachlan Anderson.

‘I Seek Misery’ sees DieDieDie! keep up the high-energy noise, this time paired alongside melodic and shoegaze flourishes.

“I Seek Misery’ is about addiction and also standing in your own truth,’ says Wilson, “bringing about change to the current societal power dynamics in the ruins of a colonial empire.”

The long-running core team of guitarist / singer Andrew Wilson and the furious drumming of Michael Prain have been going strong since their formation as DieDieDieback in 2003. In 2018, the band welcomed bassist Lachlan Anderson back into the band full time.

Since recording their debut album with Steve Albini (ShellacNirvanaPJ Harvey) in Chicago in 2005, DieDieDie! have worked with producers including Shayne CarterNick Roughan (The Skeptics)Chris Townend (Violent Femmes), and have written and recorded albums in New York, Dunedin, London and rural France.

Their 2019’s EP release ‘O’, heard the band hankered back to their noisiest, most frenetic punk roots. Plans for the release of album number seven are underway.

Their indispensable collection of records, and their intense and unflinching live show, continue to drive their connection with audiences across the globe. Both are a telling reminder of why DieDieDie! are one of the most enduring and unapologetic bands to ever emerge out of Aotearoa.
