Honey Hahs today reveal a video for ‘Olive Green’, taken from their magical debut album Dear Someone, Happy Something, which is out now on Rough Trade Records.

Honey Hahs’ Sylvie explains the idea behind the song and video; ”‘Olive Green’ is a song about a man who drowns while he has children. The idea originally came from a random photo that me and Rowan spotted in our living room: a tinted green photo of Robin. This seemed similar to a sad scene you’d find in a movie so it was easy to create a story about. His youngest child was still a baby and un-named while the others sing this song to him about the situation. I guess it may have been a fictional story about our family but it was so long ago none of us can really remember. Apart from these points, the song is pretty easy to understand. The outdoor shots on the beach in the video were shot in Iceland over Christmas, it was really cold so we only got a few minutes. The green suits made us invisible on the video (don’t know how that works, but it is a thing) so you can see the landscape behind. The indoor bits were shot at our friend Marks studio in Bermondsey.  We wanted to dress up and look glamorous in this video for a change!”

Honey Hahs are three sisters from Peckham in South London, aged 16, 13 and 11. Their songs convey a disarmingly frank, refreshingly clear view of the world. Honey Hahs have been championed by, and played shows with Goat Girl, Fat White Family, Insecure Men, Shame, Micachu and The Moonlandingz amongst others. Dear Someone, Happy Something was produced by Steve Mackey (Pulp).

Rowan plays guitar and piano, Robin plays bass and Sylvie plays drums, and they all sing and harmonise.

“Don’t get too hung up on how old the people who made this record are: these songs speak to a spirit that is inside all of us – it’s just that it sometimes gets buried by age.  It’s nice to be reminded of this time-honoured truth: the Youth will save us!” Jarvis Cocker
