“Is it really 3AM? I guess time just doesn’t fly when you’re reliving every second of goodbye”

On May 4, 2018, Jamie McDell independently-released Extraordinary Girl, a record celebrating her musical roots and the sounds of her upbringing. The project came together between Auckland, New Zealand and Nashville, Tennessee where she recorded the tracks with Australian award-winner producer Nash Chambers.

Today, McDell shares a video for album track, ‘3AM’ that she directed and produced herself. She shares about the process,  “I wanted to capture some of the raw outdoor imagery that truly inspires me around my home when I get the opportunity to be there. All bright and free components of nature that are quite the opposite of where I’m usually creating my music.

Watch the official video for ‘3AM’ below.

“The majority of the songs on my latest record were written in a bedroom in Nashville.. Trust me, it sounds more glamorous than it really was.  Maybe due to time difference or some sort of anxiety knowing I was journeying into a new phase of my career, I kept waking up at 3am. And the only soothing  thing to do at that time in the morning is write a song.

“In the video I wanted to invite the viewer into the obscure reality of what it feels like to be hit with musical inspiration at three in the morning and how I like to imagine myself creating it.. dazed in vintage dress and cowgirl boots.”
