On March 4th, London-based producer, songwriter, and singer Låpsley will release her highly anticipated debut album Long Way Home, on XL Recordings / Rhythmethod. Today Låpsley has shared a new track from the album titled “Cliff,” a song that she explains, “is a metaphor which represents the feeling of distance between two people and the gradual self destruction of an individual in a relationship.” The track, which premiered on Sirius radio over the weekend, was produced at the XL studios in London in early of 2015.

Stereogum and Complex both described Låpsley as “one of music’s most promising new artists,” meanwhile, Consequence of Sound, The Guardian, FACT, Glamour, I-D, Nylon, Elle, Pigeons and Planes, Paste Magazine, BBC Music, Buzzfeed, KCRW, Spotify, Clash, NPR and more have touted Låpsley for her unique sonic identity, mixing sparse, minimal electronic production with gorgeous, emotive songwriting. Låpsley made her U.S. late night television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with a stunning performance of her widespread single “Falling Short.” Internationally, Låpsley performed “Love Is Blind for Sweden’s Skavlan and “Hurt Me” for the Italian show Che temp che fa.

Long Way Home features new versions of Låpsley’s previous acclaimed releases “Hurt Me”, “Falling Short”, “Painter” and “Station” and her current single Love Is Blind.” The album is, Låpsley explains, “an autobiography of my emotions and events over the past year. Everything that’s happened, I’ve channeled in some way into a song – whether that’s the theme of a long distance relationship, or something that he’s said, or the way that I’ve felt, or an argument. I only revisit the memories of that relationship when I go into the studio. I think it’s helped me, to be able to collect everything for those moments when I’m writing. I think that’s what’s driven this album.”
