LOUIS BAKER
SHARES NEW MUSIC VIDEO ADDICT
DIRECTED BY SHAE STIRLING

Following last night’s packed private screening at the Roxy Cinema in Wellington and MTV premiere, Louis Baker today reveals his smoking hot new music video, ‘Addict’.
Shot in Brooklyn, New York City by award-winning music video director Shae Sterling, the clip pays homage to an era of iconic 70s and 80s film, combined with a clean modern look, and a suave leather jacket clad Baker.

“Louis and I had an amazing week filming this video. Staying in Brooklyn, we got a feel for the area, and we relived those classic gangster movies from the 80’s,”reflects Stirling

The video is the perfect visual depiction of what the song sounds like,” Louis says. “I’m driving a 1979 Cadillac Coupe de Ville at 4 am in the morning across Brooklyn Bridge in ‘The City That Never Sleeps’, and I’m making a music video. If someone had told me that I’d be doing this 10 years ago, I would never have believed them.”

Watch the smouldering new video here or below, as it unfolds under the cover of night around New York’s city streets.

‘Addict’ is the fourth and final instalment of singles/videos to be released by the soulful singer-songwriter over the last 12 months. The song reached #6 on the NZ Alternative Airplay Chart, spending multiple weeks in rotation across stations nationwide. It follows three singles released in collaboration with Red Bull Music, including the powerful opening opus (‘Rainbow’), which is currently on the Top 20 shortlist for the 2017 Silver Scroll award and has generated over 3 million Spotify streams.

The track was co-written with Grammy-nominated songwriter & producer Sacha Skarbek, producer Josh Fountain (LEISURE) and kiwi electro-pop queen, Theia(Em-Haley Walker).

Compelling New Zealanders and souls abroad with his powerfully evocative voice and potent honesty, Louis Baker has evolved into one of New Zealand’s most endearing soul voices of the millennial generation.

Everyone from India Arie (“Louis Baker, you sing my soul”) to the international music community (BBC 6 Music, Clash Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, Red Bull Music, Earmilk) have shown love for his soul-crafted work.
Baker has just returned from another songwriting trip to the US, where he has been working with some of Adele, Demi Lovato and John Legend’s songwriting teams with the promise of new material for early 2018.

Following two sold out New Zealand shows in May, Louis is taking his band to Australia in September for shows in Melbourne (20th Sept) and Sydney (21st Sept).

“His honest lyrics and melodies are a real stand out, which never fail to strike a chord.”MTV

“It’s the New Zealander’s voice that does it to us… one of those very special voices that pops up every now and again and virtually pleads with you to listen to every single word it sings.” Aus Pop

“Many soul singers might wishfully compare themselves to Marvin Gaye or Otis Redding, but for Louis Baker, the comparison is truly deserved”
New Zealand Herald

“He stops me every time and makes me listen, and that is a gift” – Graham Reid
