Today the band have shared the official video for their current single “English Tongue” from the new album. The video was directed by British DJ, musician and filmmaker Don Letts, stars Game of Thrones and Dennis Pennis actor Paul Kaye as a preacher and was mainly shot on Portobello Road and in St John’s church in west London.

Speaking about the meaning of the song, Sam Fryer of the band explains: “‘English Tongue'” is the last song we wrote for the album. We thought it sounded like an American country folk song with English lyrics and emotion. Then the name and character of Hugh Diver appeared, a man tied down by the pressures of fame and religion.”

The South London four-some have just wound up a US tour, which included dates at SXSW where they not only impressed droves of music fans and the likes of Tom Petty who came to see them, they even found themselves physically carried off the stage by security at The Parish for playing past curfew. Now, having headlined sizeable venues including London’s Forum at the NME tour earlier this year, Palma Violets are in the middle of a full UK tour of intimate venues, after which they will head south of the hemisphere for Australia’s Splendor In The Grass festival in July.
