Too Bright Racking Up “Best of 2014” Accolades
Perfume Genius, aka Mike Hadreas, has released a music video for “Fool,” the 3rd single from his 3rd album, Too Bright (Matador Records/Turnstile). Directed by Charlotte Rutherford, it was co-produced by Urban Outfitters as the 20th installment of their UO Music Video Series. The “Fool” video is the 3rd from Too Bright, joining “Grid” and “Queen” (one of Consequence of Sound’s Top 5 Videos Of The Year). Together, they give an exciting visual context to the wit, defiance, and pathos that characterize the album.
Too Bright is one of 2014’s most acclaimed releases, and the “Best Of 2014” accolades keep pouring in: NPR, Time Magazine, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Stereogum, Paste, Cosmopolitan, American Songwriter, and so many more. It’s an ambitious album, and it’s been extremely gratifying to see how closely people have listened and how intelligently it’s been written about – and in turn, how popular it’s been with fans.
