SULFATE releases video for Cyclone Pt. 1

Sulfate’s video for Cyclone Pt. 1 was shot at Algies Bay, on the Mahurangi Peninsula just north of Auckland. Peter Ruddell says:

“This is where I spent quite a bit of time workshopping the songs – filling in the blanks before recording them. It was all shot using my iPhone, which I thought kept with the DIY nature of the recording process. This track opens up the second side of the LP, and is the “calm before the storm” of Cyclone Pt. 2, which uses the same motif but lets loose with waves of distortion and chaotic drumming. I thought this would make a nice teaser prior to the album release next week as it feels uncomfortable and unfinished, and leaves you asking questions (for example, wheres the fucking melody?). I also love it for the excellent textural cello played by Laurence Diack, which makes the tune in my opinion.”
