Deerhunter – Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? OUT NOW

How do you describe an album out of time, concerned with the disappearance of culture, of humanity, of nature,
of logic and emotion? Why make this album in an era when attention spans have been reduced to next to nothing,
and the tactile grains of making music have been further reduced to algorithms and projected playlist placement.
Why wake up in the morning? Why hasn’t everything already disappeared?

Deerhunter’s eighth LP forgets the questions and makes up unrelated answers. It gets up, walks around, it records
itself in several strategic geographic points across North America. It comes home, restructures itself and goes back
to bed to avoid the bad news.

American Football Share Music Video For ‘Silhouettes’

American Football is proud to share the music video for ‘Silhouettes’, from the forthcoming full-length album,  American Football (LP3) , out March 22nd on Polyvinyl Record Co. Directed by Shawn Brackbill, the video is based on a treatment from the band’s own Mike Kinsella, and follows an undulating modern love story of two lovers as they drift in and out of each other’s lives. Where they ultimately end up is for viewers to interpret. The palpable chemistry and emotion portrayed by the actors in the beautifully shot autumnal footage are surely aided by the fact that the characters are played by the real-life couple of Cale Parks (of the band Aloha) and his partner Kendra Smalter.

Watch Chad VanGaalen’s beautifully amorphous “Host Body” video from Light Information

Chad VanGaalen has delivered a beautiful, amorphous video for “Host Body,” one of the standouts from Light Information, his acclaimed album of 2017

Chad VanGaalen’s Light Information is out now worldwide from Sub Pop.

“The theme of the video is paranoia and the illusion of reality. All of the beings in the animation are affected by how they perceive themselves through the internet, or through technological devices they have come in contact with. In this animated take on the song, the ‘parasitic demon’ is the worshiping and addiction of the augmented reality,” VanGaalen says of the new visual, which he animated meticulously over the last four months.

Light Information is available now on CD / LP / DL / CS worldwide on Sub Pop. Continue reading →

Yo La Tengo share new song ‘For You Too’

With the release of their much-anticipated new album, There’s a Riot Going On, heading our way on March 16th, Yo La Tengo have shared another taste of what’s to come with new single ‘For You Too’.

It’s an album stand-out track with a hypnotic guitar line, complemented by a low dose of drone and a deceptively upbeat drum patter, as Ira Kaplan sings quiet words of assurance: “For you / whenever there’s hurt / and things are uncertain / Maybe I could be that guy / I’d like to try.”

“Yo La Tengo further play with elements of psychedelia as Ira Kaplan croons sweetly amidst a melange of rich guitar, airy synths, steady bass and the soft patter of drums” – Rolling Stone

“… their most inventive record in a decade” – Uncut (8/10, ‘Album Of The Month’)

“If there’s a riot going on outside, Yo La Tengo are busy exploring an inner space” – MOJO ****
