PURR LIKE NEW debut album out today!

Purr’s debut album Like New is a transitional record, full of songs about shedding old patterns and old relationships to make space for what comes next. Out today and produced by Jonathan Rado (Father John Misty, Weyes Blood, Whitney), the sounds of Like New nod, at times, to a place in the past (like your favourite 70’s AM), but they don’t dwell there. Behind its golden sheen, however, lurk stories like the starry, piano-driven ‘Giant Night‘. Named after Anne Waldman’s 1970 book of poems, watch the song’s new black and white performance video below:

Whitney, the Chicago-based band led by vocalist/drummer Julien Ehrlich and guitarist Max Kakacek, today release their sophomore album, Forever Turned Around via Secretly Canadian/Rhythmethod.

On the follow up to their much-beloved debut, 2016’s Light Upon the Lake, Ehrlich and Kakacek grapple with the anxiety and acceptance that time is limited and navigate questions of mortality, doubt, love, and friendship. It’s an album about partnership — romantic, familial and communal, but most importantly a love in friendship: the bonds between two best friends and creative partners and the joy and stress that comes with it. First played on SiriusXMU, lead single ‘Giving Up’ is its triumphant opener – a heart-rending and relatable song about the ups and downs of long-term relationships.

Foxygen, the Los Angeles-based duo of Sam France and Jonathan Rado, share a new single, ‘Work‘, from their forthcoming album, Seeing Other People, out April 26th via Jagjaguwar / Rhythmethod. ‘Work’ follows the “cheeky and synth-heavy” (Consequence of Sound) ‘Face The Facts’ and the brooding lead single, ‘Livin’ A Lie.’ The track, which features drumming from the legendary Jim Keltner, is a brazen exclamation as France sings,  “I’m just doin’ all the work, if you got something to say then say it // if I’m such a f*ckin’ jerk then why don’t you write it all down? // are you really doing work, working hard or hardly workin’ now?”

Weyes Blood shares ‘Andromeda’ – Her first recording of original material since 2016

Weyes Blood’s new song, ‘Andromeda,’ her first recording of original material since 2016’s acclaimed Front Row Seat To Earth, is now available worldwide from Sub Pop through all DSPs.

‘Andromeda’ plays on a few themes (mythology, astronomy, technology), and is ultimately a love song about finding something long-lasting in an ever-changing world full of distractions, unrealistic expectations (“looking up to the sky for, something I may never find”) and past disappointments.

‘Andromeda’ was written and composed by Weyes Blood’s Natalie Mering, co-produced by Mering and Jonathan Rado, and mixed by Kenny Gilmore in Los Angeles. ‘Andromeda’ will be found on her highly anticipated fourth album, due out later this Spring worldwide from Sub Pop.
