Toronto-based artist Mustafa? shares a delicate performance of debut single ‘Stay Alive’, produced by Frank Dukes and James Blake.

Also known as Mustafa The Poet, Canadian-born Mustafa entered the spoken word poetry scene at the age of 12, where he built a reputation for raw and powerful writing about poverty, race, and his Sudanese heritage. After Drake shared one of his poems on Instagram, Mustafa found himself in the spotlight. Mustafa’s powerful poetry and growing popularity led to guest spots on CBC, press features in ?Pitchfork?, ?Complex?, ?Rolling Stone? and many more who highlighted the beauty within the rising artists’ music, as well as songwriting credits on music from Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, and The Weeknd.

Mustafa, a member of the Toronto collective Halal Gang (Mo-G, Safe, Puffy L’z, and Smoke Dawg), debuted his first single, ‘Stay Alive in early 2020, with producer credits from Frank.

Dukes and James Blake. Since then, he’s also collaborated with James Blake on a studio session performance of “C?ome Back?.” His highly-anticipated debut album W? hen Smoke Rises will be released this year.
