Tune-Yards made a web series that feels like it belongs at 2am on public access TV, an eclectic and vibrant future-cult classic gem. Today, the band releases the final episode of the 4-part sketchy.tv series, which parallels their critically acclaimed new album sketchy. in its world of joy grounded by serious undertones. The series is directed by Dominic Mercurio.
Today, the band also shares a new remix of ‘hold yourself.’ by acclaimed South African producer, singer-songwriter, rapper Spoek Mathambo. Tracks remixed by rising bedroom pop star Claud and widely acclaimed experimentalist L’Rain will follow this summer.
Tune-Yards’ fifth album, sketchy., balances self-inspection and reflection with bombastic rallying cries, reminiscent of the furious tones of early days Tune-Yards. The result is a colourful and celebratory record with lyrics that cut to the bone.
