This week, we’re onto another sweet reinvision of Warpaint’s “New Song”, and this time, by Mike D. Heads Up is out now on Rough Trade Records. Listen to it below:

Heads Up is getting a lot of love from critics worldwide:

Heads Up reveals a unified front. Artfully layered and often beat-centered, it’s an indie-rock album both brooding and frisky, with a few tracks, like ‘New Song,’ that veer toward the euphoric.” – New York Times

“L.A.’s Warpaint deliver their dream-rock mysticism with such chill confidenceand casual concision you almost miss all the different sounds they pulltogether…Even when it bounces, the music is still tense and moodily textured.” – Rolling Stone

“Warpaint keeps it groovy and sensual on Heads Up, its third full-length album…The band may specialize in spare atmospheres, but that doesn’t mean it still can’t shake and saunter.” – Los Angeles Times

Heads Up was recorded after the band spent 2015 apart working on solo projects and their ownendeavors. Reuniting in January of this year, the band invited producer Jacob Bercoviciwithwhom they had worked on their debut EP Exquisite Corpseinto their House on the Hill studioin Downtown Los Angeles to begin work on the new LP. For the first time ever, the bandrecorded in pairs and alone rather than as a full band, allowing for a new creative freedom.
Warpaint is Emily Kokal (guitar, vocals), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), Stella Mozgawa(drums, vocals) and Theresa Wayman (guitar, vocals). Heads Up follows their critically beloveddebut EP Exquisite Corpse, 2010’s The Fool and 2014’s Warpaint.
