Twin Shadow is the project by Brooklyn inhabitant and fresh 4AD signing, George Lewis Jr. His debut LP Forget is due out later this year.
Originally from suburban Florida, George Lewis Jr. packed his bags and headed for the big smoke of NYC where as Twin Shadow, caught the attention of Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear who was so impressed, he lent his talents as co-producer of the album. Lewis Jr. Says of the new album: “I can say without shyness, Forget was and is a product of the hardest work I’ve ever put into anything. Please listen closely to the last song [title track 'Forget'] on the record, as I wrote it for you.”
And just because we like proper introductions, here’s a stream of the entire album Forget, free download of Slow AND stream of “too hot for the record” B-Side Savannah Howl. Phew!

To mark the impending release of their eight album Belle and Sebastian Write About Love, Glasgow sweethearts Belle and Sebastian have created Belle and Sebastian TV.
The first episode of Belle and Sebastian TV is a fully realized, half-hour mixture of music, chat, revealing and not so revealing insights from the band, filmed in Glasgow over the last few weeks.
Presented by Dougie Anderson and produced by Forest of Black, Belle & Sebastian TV features performances of two of the songs from Belle and Sebastian Write About Love: I Want The World to Stop and I Didn’t See It Coming.
Unlike its predecessors, Belle and Sebastian Write About Love is an album which has come together in a relatively short period of time. After the band reconvened in February 2010, a period of writing and pre-production in Glasgow was followed by a trip to Los Angeles to record the album with Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Phoenix) at the renowned Sound Factory Studio B. Adopting a more fluid approach than on previous album The Life Pursuit, fourteen songs were recorded and mixed by the start of June 2010, of which eleven feature on Belle and Sebastian Write About Love.
Belle and Sebastian Write About Love
1. I Didn’t See It Coming 2. Come On Sister 3. Calculating Bimbo 4. I Want The World To Stop 5. Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John 6. Write About Love 7. I’m Not Living In The Real World 8. Ghost of Rockschool 9. Read The Blessed Pages 10. I Can See Your Future 11. Sunday’s Pretty Icons
Belle and Sebastian Write About Love is out October 8th 2010 on Rough Trade / Rhythmethod
This edition of the excellent 4AD Sessions is a set by Oxford group Stornoway. The band play four tracks from their debut album Beachcomber’s Windowsill, which folk in NZ are just starting to discover, much to their delight!
Stornoway perform in their hometown of Oxfordshire in a beautiful building once used as museum housing the doll collection belonging to the ex-wife of author and playwright, Graham Greene.

Vampire Weekend are embarking on a MASSIVE tour of the US and Europe joined along the way by some amazing bands including Ratatat, Beach House and Janelle Monae.
They recently posted the news up on the VW website:
We’re excited by the prospect of sweater weather, our busy Fall and our crazy touring adventures that have recently begun. We’re out west at the moment and touring all over the US from now until mid-Oct. Then we’re very lucky to be playing in Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Japan before heading on to Europe.
We’re gonna be joined by some amazing people along the way. Beach House are accompanying us for most of our US shows, Dum Dum Girls are along for the first half, and then our friends in The Very Best will be heading out with us too. We can now also announce that Jenny & Johnny have just been confirmed as support in Europe starting on Nov 10th in Lisbon.
We’ll be kicking off a short UK visit with Ratatat on Thanksgiving, where we will hopefully eat some turkey in Blackpool, and we’ll be joined in London by Laura Marling and Janelle Monae. Wrapping it all up on Dec 5th and 6th, we are psyched to be playing 2 shows with The Arcade Fire. Is that enough? There will no doubt be a few more shows added along the way. And finally, here’s a fantastic remix of ‘White Sky’ that Basement Jaxx made we’d like to share with you all. See you soon!
The Basement Jaxx remix of Vampire Weekend’s latest single White Sky is available for to download for free!
