Hopetoun Brown Share animated music video for ‘You Know I Know’ (feat. Sophie Burbery) See them live on Round The Horn tour this summer!
Following the release of their brand new single ‘You Know I Know’ featuring Sophie Burbery, Hopetoun Brown have today shared the official music video available to watch here.
Directed and animated by none other than the magical Finn Scholes, Hopetoun fans will be familiar with Finn’s fiery trumpet skills and incandescent piano playing, but they may be unaware of his talents as an accomplished visual artist and animator.
Finn’s experimental five-piece Carnivorous Plant Society often have Finn’s animations projected behind the band as they play, but now Hopetoun Brown has commissioned the creature of Ponsonby to draw their entire video, complete with all manner of surreal couples doin’ it in full colour!
Recorded with Jol Mulholland from Mt Eden studio The Oven, the speedy rap duet features neighbourhood synth scientist and MC Sophie Burbery, Weird Together percussionist/bongo player Issac Chadderton, and alto sax player Callum Passells.

The video was filmed and edited by Alexander Hoyles (photographer & music video director) with help from Henry Williamson(Thievery Studio) on location at the Tabak family farm.
The Miltones songwriter and front-woman, Milly Tabak, talking about the video says “Pursed Lips was our opportunity to share our personality as a band, where we come from, and our relationship with music and those who share in the experience with us. The idea to shoot Pursed Lips at our Wildfire single came to all of us: We could include the amazing souls who dedicate time to help the band pursue music. It really was our way to show people that The Miltones is a beautiful community of friends and family. I’venever viewed us as just a band – the video also reflects this through its honest and light-hearted feel.”
LANY today announce details of their first New Zealand show to be held at Auckland’s iconic music venue, The Powerstation on Wednesday 26th July. This news comes hot on the heels of the details of their eagerly-awaited debut album LANY which will be released on Polydor Records on June 30th and their Australian tour which sees the band perform at Splendour In The Grass as well as headlining side shows in both Melbourne and Sydney.
When the LA-based trio LANY first came together in 2014, their only aim was to work on a couple of tracks, demo them, and have fun in the process. What they didn’t realise was that they were about to enter that elusive dream state of being discovered! They wrote and recorded two songs, put them online, six days later the band found themselves fielding emails from major-label suitors. Their single “ILYSB” exploded online, and the band have not looked back playing a total of 117 shows in 2017 and selling 35,000 tickets.
Writing beautiful songs with swashes of synth, spare percussion, echoes of prime 1980s FM pop, early-1990s R&B, and new-wave electronica. Combining melody and lyrics to put down roots in your head, and capture your heart.

“Morphing between glitchy electro and effortlessly smooth modern R’n’B, it only goes to prove why these guys are going to be bloody huge over the next few months” – Dork
