Richard Russell’s collaborative project Everything Is Recorded today release a new EP No Ends No Beginnings via XL Recordings. Across four tracks, Russell is joined by long-time collaborators and new voices including Sampha, Florence + The Machine, Danielle Ponder, Jah Wobble, Roses Gabor and Jack Peñate. The record moves from the raw, broken soul of recent single ‘Wear and Tear’ to the spectral folk of ‘Welcome to the Meadows’, framed by the meditative spoken-word soundscapes of ‘Washaway’ and the title track.

No Ends No Beginnings arrives after a prolific year for Russell’s project. February saw the release of their critically acclaimed third album Temporary, which featured an extraordinary lineup including Sampha, Florence Welch, Bill Callahan, Noah Cyrus, Maddy Prior, Berwyn, Kamasi Washington, Rickey Washington, and many others from the Solstice Equinox sessions. Created over four years (2020–2024), Temporary built on the success of the Mercury Prize-nominated 2018 debut .
Uncut called Temporary “an endearingly ramshackle album… by turns light, sunny and soulful,” while Clash praised it as “one of the gentlest records ever made about death… deeply affecting, like sunlight filtering through the cracks of a long-lost memory.” Crack Magazine described it as “raw and vulnerable, exploring impermanence, change and connection through a kaleidoscopic lineup of artists… a record that resonates deeply, long after the needle lifts.”
This was followed by Solstice Equinox, a collection of 40 pieces captured over seasonal sessions at The Copper House with a rotating cast. The project was later edited, mixed and released on limited-edition screen-printed vinyl, further showcasing Russell’s fearless approach to collaboration.
Beyond his work with Everything Is Recorded, Richard Russell has continued to shape music from behind the scenes. He recently joined forces with acclaimed actor, director, and singer-songwriter Samantha Morton for the duo SAM MORTON, releasing their widely praised debut album Daffodils & Dirt. He also produced ‘Four Kinds of Horses’ from i/o, Peter Gabriel’s first UK No.1 album in over 30 years, and this old house, the debut EP from rising London trio Mary In The Junkyard.
These releases – along with his lauded production work for Bobby Womack, Damon Albarn, Gil Scott-Heron, and Ibeyi – earned Russell the prestigious Inspiration Award at the Music Producers Guild Awards in London earlier this year.
Meanwhile, following a summer of standout festival appearances – including We Out Here, Into The Great Open, Massive Attack’s LIDO festival, Tasmania’s Dark Mofo, Ireland’s All Together Now, and a headline event at the Manchester International Festival – Everything Is Recorded will return to London for a sold out headline show at Village Underground on 4 November.
