Following the release of their already critically acclaimed third album, There Is No Year, last Friday on Matador Records, Algiers have shared a special live version of single ‘Dispossession’, recorded live at the Conklin Metal Building in their hometown of Atlanta.
The haunting, stripped-back rendition, set against the expansive and cavernous space, reveals further hypnotic and engulfing facets of the mournful yet red-hot lament to compromised freedom and dislocation. The filmed performance follows videos for singles ‘We Can’t Be Found’, ‘Void’, and ‘Dispossession’.
Algiers commence their UK headline tour on February 3rd in Brighton, followed by dates in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Leeds, before continuing to European and North American live runs. A full list of upcoming dates can be found below.
There Is No Year was recorded in New York throughout 2019 by childhood friends and Atlanta natives Franklin James Fisher, Ryan Mahan and Lee Tesche, as well as drummer Matt Tong (ex-Bloc Party), alongside producers Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Oren Ambarchi) and Ben Greenberg (Zs, Uniform, The Men). The album is titled after author and fellow Atlanta native Blake Butler’s novel of the same name, a major inspiration to the band over the course of the album’s making.
