Julia Jacklin has made a name for herself as one of Australia’s most internationally celebrated songwriters, with nominations at both the ARIA and Libera Awards, sold-out shows globally, massive tours with the likes of Mitski and Lana Del Rey, performances on major festival stages from Glastonbury to Pitchfork, to Newport Folk to Primvaera, and countless accolades for her critically acclaimed albums. Today, Julia Jacklin announces the start of a new chapter with her first-ever global record deal, as she signs to 4AD.

Julia Jacklin is celebrated for her emotionally direct lyricism, captivating performance and commanding voice. Since the release of her acclaimed debut, Don’t Let The Kids Win (2016), Jacklin has become one of the most respected artists in contemporary independent music, with follow-up albums Crushing (2019) charting at no. 11 on the NZ charts and PRE PLEASURE (2022), debuting at #2 on the ARIA Charts and no. 11 on the NZ charts marking a significant rise.
Across her career, she has earned two ARIA Awards and received thirteen nominations as well as widespread international critical acclaim, with both Crushing and PRE PLEASURE landing on numerous year-end best-of lists and receiving universal praise from outlets including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NME, MOJO, and Uncut.
A formidable live performer, Jacklin has built a substantial global touring audience through sold out headline shows at venues including London’s Roundhouse, Melbourne’s Forum, and Brooklyn Steel in New York, alongside appearances at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Austin City Limits, Pitchfork Music Festival, and Laneway. In addition to extensive headline touring, she has shared stages with peers including Mitski, Lana Del Rey, Courtney Barnett, and Faye Webster, with whom she has also collaborated musically.
Jacklin has a particularly devoted following in Aotearoa, New Zealand, having played sold-out tours here in 2019 and again in 2023 in support of PRE PLEASURE, performing at Auckland’s Powerstation and Wellington’s Opera House to rapturous audiences. Her Laneway Festival appearances cemented her status as a firm NZ favourite, and she has been championed consistently by NZ media since the release of her debut.
