bar italia, the London based trio of Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton, have joined the Matador Records roster. In celebration the band release new single “Nurse!”.
Pitchfork noted, “On “Nurse!,” their narcotically arresting new single, the guitar tones ring out of some liminal space where the fumes of Joy Division and the Cure mingle with echoes of early King Krule, while the million-mile remove of the vocals —“A mask covered your eyes and you move like crazy to your favorite song,” someone sneers—dimly summon Thurston Moore.”
The band play a run of UK and European headline shows in May, including the ICA in London on May 25th, and will appear at festivals this summer including Primavera Sound Barcelona & Madrid, Latitude, Midi Festival and End Of The Road.
Over the last couple of years, bar italia have released two albums and an EP on Dean Blunt’s World Music label, as well as several singles. Throughout 2022 they have performed at festivals including Pitchfork Music Festival London, by:Larm, OUT.FEST, Le Guess Who?, and End Of The Road, in addition to their own headline shows.
