Praise for ‘Toast’
“Heightens the senses and gets your heart pounding” – The Guardian
“Breaking new ground once more, the dynamic production is laced with colour” – CLASH
“Blawan breaks the mold again, letting his unbridled knack for experimentation take the wheel” – Beatportal
“Blawan’s shift in recent years towards using his distinctive modular sound to explore the outer reaches of techno has yielded some of his best and most playful material to date. ‘Toast’, the first taste of his forthcoming second EP for XL…continues a hot streak” – The Quietus
Today, Blawan releases Dismantled into Juice, the highly anticipated follow-up EP to Woke Up Right Handed. Out now via XL Recordings / Remote Control, Dismantled into Juice started with captivating original vocal cuts from rising singer Monstera Black and evolved into five tracks that are Blawan’s most riveting and genre-bending to date.
Last month, Blawan released the first single ‘Toast’ which sparked a wave of excitement for the new project, going on to be named one of the best new tracks by the likes of The Quietus and The Guardian. The single showcased an unexpected but dynamic shift the producer is making with Dismantled into Juice EP as he continues to move further away from the club and deeper into the studio to perfect the soulful sounds he has always wanted to explore.
On Dismantled into Juice, Blawan effortlessly flickers between instrumentals and vocal-led songs that flex a deep technical ability and see him transcend the “techno” box he has so often been put in. Bringing in distorted drum rhythms, piercing synths, unbelievable drums, and original vocal cuts, Dismantled Into Juice presents the very best of the multifaceted productions that Jamie Roberts has been fastidiously perfecting across the last decade as Blawan.
