Out now, ‘Constrictor’ features Toronto-based DJ Bambii and Dominican artist KD ONE
Today–Manchester-Colombian Producer and DJ Florentino debuts on XL Recordings under the iconic house-bag series with brand new single ‘Constrictor’. A true celebration of Florentino’s roots, ‘Constrictor’ combines the darker, robust, low-end tones central to British sound systems with the irresistible rhythms of Latin American dance sounds. Featuring multi-hyphenated Dancehall artist Bambii and Dominican Urbano vocalist KD One, ‘Constrictor’ gives a flavour of some new sounds from a producer that has been blazing a trail of cross-cultural club sounds over the past few years.
Speaking on the single, Florentino says “This single represents me ever so slightly opening up the floodgates on a new sound, a sound that I’ve been refining over the past few years and been waiting patiently to unleash. It’s Florentino phase 2. it’s sharper, darker & more confident. Primed to rattle your speakers, Constrictor is the first page in the next chapter”
At the forefront of Manchester’s innovative electronic scene, Florentino debuted in 2015 via the vital label wing of club night Swing Ting, where he released ‘Tu Y Yo’. Since then he has gone on to release via a globe-trotting list of formidable labels including Dre Skull’s NYC label Mixpak and Mexico City’s N.A.A.F.I. Always reliably able to assemble an improbable but always on-point cast of global music makers, Florentino set up his own label “Club Romantico” in 2021 to amplify the alternative and forward-thinking Latin club sounds from across the globe. In the same year, Florentino came together with Kelman Duran and DJ Python, to form underground supergroup alias Sangre Nueva and release the acclaimed EP Goteo.
Elsewhere, he has collaborated with the likes of Bad Gyal, Shygirl, Isabella Lovestory and The Martinez Brothers, all whilst performing for some of the world’s most credible clubs and festivals including Primavera, Nowadays, Soup Kitchen.
