Following the release of the trip hop-laced icebreaker Desire and ahead of showcasing at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND Festival as well as a September trio of Aotearoa shows with Folk Bitch Trio, Melbourne/New Zealand-based artist Georgia Knight has shared Mingle and announced the forthcoming arrival of her long-awaited debut albumBeanpole, out Friday 31st October. Pre-orders are available now via Bandcamp.

Accompanying the single is a new music video for ‘Mingle’ – the result of a collaborative effort between celebrated director Martin Sagadin, Marlon Williams and Georgia.

While Desire hinted at a sonic shift for Georgia, ‘Mingle’ cements it. Written on autoharp and co-produced by Georgia, Dan Luscombe (The Drones), Nick Finch (Cash Savage and the Last Drinks) and Andrew ‘Idge’ Hehir at Soundpark Studios, then mastered by John Lee at Phaedra‘Mingle’ is a moody dark-pop track with trip hop undercurrents and synth-washed layers, inviting listeners into an 8-track album of musically dark terrain and cinematic breadth.

WATCH/LISTEN

Beanpole is the debut album from Melbourne/New Zealand’s Georgia Knight. Written largely on autoharp and filled with shadowed, cinematic soundscapes, Beanpole weaves dark-pop moods with trip-hop pulses and sweeping synth layers, signalling a striking sonic departure from the artist’s folk origins.

‘Mingle’ is the second single from Beanpole, following lead single ‘Desire. It also marks Georgia’s first release since her 2023 Hell on Bent Street EP, which saw her perform at RisingDark Mofo and Camp A Low Hum, as well as support Blonde Redhead, Mogwai, Angie McMahon and Maple Glider.

More music from Georgia is on the way. For now, let’s mingle.

Georgia Knight will join Folk Bitch Trio on their upcoming Aotearoa tour this September, bringing her music to three cities across the motu.

Friday 26th September – The Tuning Fork, Auckland
Saturday 27th September – San Fran, Wellington
Sunday 28th September – Loons, Lyttelton
