Bringing the Global Music Industry to Aotearoa / New Zealand to Educate, Discover & Connect with the incredible musical talent of Aotearoa Last Round of Speakers Announced!
Alongside the visiting international music biz mavens will be representatives from Aotearoa’s supporting bodies including NZ Music Commission, Outward Sound, Recorded Music NZ; APRA/AMCOS, MMF and joining them in the hallways and across the stages will be digital service providers; The Orchard, FUGA, DRM NZ, GYROSTREAM, Xelon, Nettwerk. Local publishing stalwarts Concord Music Publishing, and of course NZ music royalty, Tom Larkin of SHIHAD who doubles as the conference programmer for Going Global’s AU equivalent; BIGSOUND.
As the cherry on top of this year’s Aotearoa Artist showcase, Jaden and Jordan of LEISURE will take the stage to share their international journey with Charlotte Ryan of RNZ. The acclaimed New Zealand collective, celebrated for their distinctive blend of electro-funk and soul, made waves in 2023 with their fourth studio album, Leisurevision. Since their inception in 2015, LEISURE has captivated audiences globally with their fusion of seventies Blue-eyed-Soul, early eighties post-disco, and mid-nineties hip-hop. With over 400 million streams, sold-out performances, and standout slots at festivals like Lollapalooza and Pal Norte, LEISURE continues to blaze their own trail, embracing every moment of their remarkable journey.
Sessions at the Summit across the two days will include an overview of the New Zealand music market and some of the trends for music from Aotearoa both at home and abroad, top tips on the dos and don’ts on releasing music in Asia, with a focus on Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines; Where to next in the evolution of streaming platforms and digital services; the diverse avenues for music to be sync’d – games, ads across all platforms, soundtracks, commissioned works, television, platformed-specific streaming series, live online events and what might come next yet…and so much more! All attending persons will have access to the full programme of sessions.

David Melik Telfer, DMT Law Firm (USA) A 2008 UCLA Law graduate, is the founder of DMT Law Firm in Los Angeles, a leading music immigration boutique handling hundreds of O-1B and O-2 petitions annually. Renowned for streamlining immigration for artists and industry professionals, Telfer has also led over a dozen federal lawsuits against USCIS, advancing immigration law while managing a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu clothing enterprise and gym.
Max Thomas – Label Manager APAC, Secretly Group (AUST) The APAC Label Manager at Secretly Group, overseeing operations and marketing across ANZ, Asia, and Africa. After starting his career at Apple Music in London and working as a Product Manager at GRADUATION*, he joined Secretly’s Australian team three years ago. He has since played a key role in promoting artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Bon Iver, managing all marketing and strategy for Secretly’s releases in the Asia-Pacific region.
Maria Amato – CEO, Air (AUST) The CEO of AIR and serves as WIN’s Executive Board member and Treasurer, making history as the first female and Southern Hemisphere chair in February 2022. With over 30 years in finance management and leadership within the arts and not-for-profit sector, she continues to shape the industry as WIN’s Treasurer and executive committee member. Amato has also held non-executive director roles at Adelaide UNESCO City Of Music, the Australian Institute of Music, and Music Victoria.
Sosefina Fuamoli – Journalist, Broadcaster (AUST)
An award-winning Samoan-Australian music journalist, broadcaster, and content producer. Her work has been featured in a number of titles including Rolling Stone AU/NZ, NME, The Australian, The Guardian, Junkee and more. Sosefina can currently be heard hosting weekly music interview show ‘On The Record’, for ABC Pacific / Radio Australia, as well as ‘Sista Sounds’, a dedicated radio show on the network to amplifying women’s voices throughout the Oceanic region. She is a two-time winner of the ‘Live Music Journalist’ award for Australia’s National Live Music Awards
Emily Ulman – Program Director, Always Live (AUST)
Emily Ulman is a multi-talented festival programmer, venue booker, musician, event producer, publicist, teacher, entertainment manager, mentor, radio presenter, AFLM/W Western Bulldogs fanatic and highly respected contributor to the local music community of Australia. She is currently the Program Director of Victorian major event, ALWAYS LIVE.
Steve Guest – Guesty PR (UK / NZ)
With over 30 years in the music and entertainment industry, recently relocated from London to Christchurch, NZ, where he continues to run Guesty PR. Specializing in PR, marketing, and touring, Guesty PR works with a diverse range of artists across the UK, USA, NZ, and Australia. Formerly Head of PR for Live Nation Entertainment, Steve has extensive experience with top venues, promoters, and record companies, and his PR campaign for Dolly Parton won the Music Week Best PR Campaign in 2015.
Will Evans – Artist & Label Ambassador, Bandcamp AU/NZ (AUST)
Will Evans is Bandcamp’s Artist and Label Ambassador for Australia & Aotearoa/New Zealand, championing the platform’s artist-first mission. He collaborates with artists and labels to elevate their Bandcamp experience while leveraging his extensive background as an agent, venue booker, label owner, artist manager, and festival director. Will also manages the ARIA award-winning jazz-psych band Mildlife.

Angela Dorgan (Ireland- CEO – First Music Contact) Angela Dorgan is the CEO of firstmusiccontact.com (FMC), the Arts Council funded national resource organisation for the popular music sector in Ireland. Lisa Gotther As a board member of the European Music Exporters Exchange (EMEE), Angela was part of a group that devised a global music export strategy for European Music for the European Commission.
Brendan Gaffney, Global Marketing Secretariat, IMCJ (Independent Music Coalition Japan)
Brendan Gaffney is a leader in the Japanese independent music scene, serving as the Global Marketing Secretariat for Independent Music Coalition Japan (IMCJ), a key trade association representing Japan’s independent music sector. Spearheading efforts to amplify the voice and interests of independent musicians within Japan and beyond. Brendan’s expertise is further enriched by his active membership in the World Independent Network (WIN), where he contributes to global initiatives supporting independent music.
Dev Sherlock, (USA – Senior Music Programmer – SXSW) Dev has been a regular at NZ’s Going Global and ushered many Kiwi artists through to Austin’s SXSW as a result. Recognised as the world’s premier music showcasing event, SXSW brings together the global music community, alongside the film and tech industries, for a week of networking and live showcases in Austin, Texas, featuring more than 1,000 artists from 60+ countries. Dev’s background also includes music journalism, film supervision, radio and broadcasting.
Elliott Lefko (Canada – Vice President – Goldenvoice/AEG Presents – organisers of Coachella festival) Elliott was born in Toronto Canada and from a young age dreamed of being a concert promoter. Things started happening, post college, when he began booking bands around the city doing the first gigs for artists such as The Pixies, Nirvana, Erykah Badu, The Brand New Heavies, The Triffids, and The Chills!! In 2004 he moved to LA to join Goldenvoice Concerts where he began promoting North American tours for such greats as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros and Kraftwerk.
Ian Urrutia, The Rest Is Noise / AXEAN Festival (Philippines) Ian Emmanuel C. Urrutia is the co-founder and artist/media relations director of The Rest Is Noise PH, co-founder of AXEAN Music Showcase Festival and the founder & head publicist of NYOU, a PR and Marketing startup based in Manila. Ian is also a former contributing editor for Philippine Star Supreme, a pop culture, music and arts section and has written for Billboard Philippines, CNN Philippines, Cosmopolitan and Rogue Magazine.
Jemma Burns (Australia – Founder – Pulse Points) Jemma is a music supervisor working closely with directors and producers to craft the soundtrack to their productions, whether that be through the use of score, licensed music or commissioning songs. Jemma broke into the industry on Summer Heights High and has now music supervised over 100 productions. She regularly collaborates with some of the world’s most renowned production companies including Oscar Nominated Lion and Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake.
Lisa Gottheil (USA – Co-founder – Grandstand Media) Grandstand Media is one of the most respected and in-demand music publicity firms in the world. Lisa has led international campaigns for top artists such as Tame Impala, Perfume Genius, and Sam Fender. Lisa’s career went from DJ at local radio station, followed by roles in retail, video promotion, and publicity then in 1991worked with early-career bands like The Afghan Whigs. Moving on to 230 Publicity Lisa oversaw the press department at Beggars Banquet, eventually becoming VP of Publicity for Beggars Label Group.
Patrick Daniel, (Germany – Programmer/Project Manager – Reeperbahn Festival) Patrick brings a wealth of knowledge and experience bolstered by his educational foundation includes media business management and sociology. He has contributed to various capacities in indie-label and artist management, as well as festival sponsorships. Patrick is looking forward to continuing his conversations with multiple NZ artists, and connecting with new showcasing bands for the Reeperbahn Festival.
Reggie Ba-Pe – Alias – (Australia)
Reggie is the CEO and Founder of Alias, a platform that makes it easy to create content as 3D characters and avatars from any device. With over 15 years at the forefront of youth culture, entertainment, and digital culture, Reggie has been a driving force in the Asia-Pacific creative industries. He previously served as the creative director of 88rising and founded creative production agency Club Media, video-game themed bar Arcade, Shanghai’s largest underground club Arkham, and the renowned Chinese promotions company Sonically Transmitted Disease. His experience ranges from designing music campaigns in China with James Blake for Sprite to touring Aussie artists like The Presets, Regurgitator, and Kirin J Callinan to his club in Shanghai.
Shain Shaprio PhD (USA – Author & Speaker – Center for Music Ecosystems | Sound Diplomacy | Momentual | UNESCO Expert) London based, globally recognised thought leader at the convergence of music, culture and urban policy. This is showcased in his debut book, This Must Be The Place: How Music Can Make Your City Better. Arguing for the transformative role of artists and musicians, This Must Be The Place not only examines the powerful impact music can have on cities but also serves as a how-to guide and toolkit for music-lovers, artists and activists everywhere.
Weining Hung – 9KICK / LUCfest (Taiwan)
Weining Hung is a dynamic force in the music industry, co-founding LUCfest, a prominent three-day showcase festival and conference held in Tainan, Taiwan. At 9KICK, an independent culture agency specialising in experimental music event PR, Weining is the international manager of emerging artists, including Phum Viphurit and ADOY. Her work focuses on bridging Asian musicians with European markets, enhancing their global visibility. Weining splits her time between Asia and Europe and is passionate about stimulating networking activities and building an Asian music industry platform across the globe.
