London-based duo Jockstrap (Georgia Ellery and Taylor Skye) have today announced their signing to Rough Trade Records and shared the first single on their new label home ‘50/50’.

Fresh from a sold-out headline tour of the UK, and a summer of rightfully hyped festival slots (alongside the likes of Pa Salieu, Kode 9, Jamie XX, Floating Points) and one-off appearances supporting Caroline Polachek & Jarvis Cocker, Jockstrap have returned with a pulsating new track, more influenced by the club than ever before.
Featuring a host of familiar faces and collaborators, Jockstrap’s encore of ‘50/50‘ at their sweat-soaked warm up show at Hackney’s The Glove That Fits provides the setting for ‘50/50’s accompanying video – and it certainly won’t be the last time Jockstrap step back into similar surroundings in the coming months. Jockstrap are also amongst the first wave of artists announced for SXSW (11-20 March 2022).
With its towering beat – constructed by Taylor in bed whilst recovering from tonsilitis – ‘50/50’ hints at the increasingly unpredictable new gears Jockstrap are able to move through at any given moment. It’s, of course, the first taste of new music from the duo since the release of 2020’s critically acclaimed Wicked City EP and subsequent Beavercore mixtape, which featured remixed versions and original piano preludes. Those two stellar releases saw Jockstrap catch the attention of cultural icons like Chanel (soundtracking their Fall-Winter 2020/21 Haute Couture collection campaign video), vital press & radio tastemakers and fellow artists in equal measure (including Anna Meredith, Iggy Pop, GFOTY, Kelly Moran, Oneohtrix Point Never to name a few).
