“Joey Dosik has a feather-light voice, and ‘Game Winner’ moves with the restrained sensuality of early 1960s soul. But this isn’t an ornate or gaudy kind of revivalism. Mr. Dosik sings with gentle nudge, and has found the style to match…” — The New York Times on “Game Winner”
Last week, to celebrate the release of his debut EP, Game Winner (out now via Secretly Canadian), Joey Dosik took the stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! to make his network television debut! Seated at a custom, vintage Rhodes, Joey (vocals, piano) and his band — Nia Andrews (vocals, tambourine), James Cornelison Jr. (guitar, vocals), Joe Dart (bass), Theo Katzman (drums, vocals), and Caitlin Moss (percussion) — performed a cool and con?dent, stunning rendiXon of “Running Away,” a highlight from Game Winner which balances equal parts nostalgia and vintage Marvin Gaye with a contemporary sound wholly Joey’s own. They also performed a brand new arrangement of the EP’s Utle track for a web only exclusive.
