Having become a word-of-mouth dancefloor phenomenon over the summer, DJ Koze’s much talked-about extended disco edits of Låpsley’s ‘Operator’ get a full release via XL Recordings. The track has already received huge DJ support from everyone from Horse Meat Disco and Mister Saturday Night, to the likes of Seth Troxler, Jackmaster, Disclosure, Norman Cook and Annie Mac (who made it her Hottest Record on Radio 1).
DJ Koze says of the track, “When I heard Låpsley´s ‘Operator’ for the first time, I thought that it was unique and perfect and didn’t need a remix at all, but what I could imagine was in fact a 10 minute-lasting, slowly unwrapping-itself version in a Larry Levan style, playing and dubbing around with the original stems, providing some gimmicks while imagining the moon with the spoon in the Studio 54.“
‘Operator’ is taken from Låpsley’s highly acclaimed debut album Long Way Home, released earlier this year on XL Recordings and also featuring previous singles ‘Hurt Me’, ‘Love Is Blind’, ‘Painter’ and ‘Station’. For much of the album Låpsley worked with XL’s in-house producer Rodaidh McDonald, in addition to production contributions from Paul O’Duffy and Mura Masa.
