Shamir is Shamir Bailey, a 19-year-old musician from Las Vegas. He grew up not on the strip but in the desert, right across the street from a pig farm. Since his debut EP ‘Northtown’ (released on New York label GODMODE, and produced by its owner Nick Sylvester) earlier this year, Shamir has been hailed as one of the most unique artists around. He recently signed to XL Recordings, and today he’s delighted to announce his brand new single ‘On The Regular.’

Like many people his age, Shamir listens to all kinds of music, and sees no difference between Rihanna and Mac DeMarco. He played in a punk band called Anorexia, and taught himself guitar by learning old country songs. Shamir can be exuberant, and his joy can be infectious. He can also sing about loneliness – and make us all feel a little bit less alone.
Further to this news, his debut EP ‘Northtown’ is set to be repressed, extending the original run of 100 to 1000. The new run will be released on numbered vinyl housed in a hand silkscreen printed sleeve through GODMODE on November 3rd 2014. Critics praised the EP as the perfect blend of house, pop, disco and gospel music.
