New Album, My Friends, Out Today + Aotearoa Tour Dates Announced!
Following the success of lead singles, ‘The Bench’ and ‘My Hands Are Made of Glass,‘ both of which shot to #1 on NZ’s Alternative Airplay Chart, Mousey today unveils the final single and video ‘One Dollar Wednesdays’.
Written by Mousey about her nearest and dearest, husband and bandmate Chris Close, the loved-up track expresses affection about the simple things shared in a relationship; from watching movies, road trips, and hanging out with friends. Mousey shares, “My new album is called ‘My Friends’ so obviously I had to write a song about my number one, my husband of seven years. It’s an ultra happy bop about our amazing friendship and love for each other. It’s probably one of the few songs of mine that doesn’t really get too deep into metaphors but just sits very happily at face value”
Otautahi/Christchurch-based artist Mousey releases her anticipated sophomore record My Friends, a follow-up to 2019’s Silver Scroll nominated debut album Lemon Law. Mousey will take the new record on tour across Aotearoa from April with her band playing the four main centres starting with home-town Christchurch on April 2. See full tour dates and details below.

My Friends is the anticipated sophomore record from Mousey following 2019’s Silver Scroll and Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award nominated debut album Lemon Law. Produced by Ben Edwards at The Sitting Room (Marlon Williams, Julia Jacklin, Nadia Reid), My Friends was written by Mousey in lockdown and holds a strong focus on her friends and her relationships with them. “While my last album was about ‘being let down and being a let-down’, this album is about ‘being let down but being loved,“ reflects Mousey. “I initially hoped the new record was going to be really light, cute and wholesome. But even though there are many ‘sweet’ songs, my year was really hard and some of my long-time friends left me with some nasty scars – so obviously the record reflects that too.”
