EMA – The Future’s Void (Matador)
The Future’s Void is the follow-up to EMA‘s acclaimed 2011 LP, Past Life Martyred Saints. The Future’s Void was written by Erika M. Anderson, recorded in Portland, Oregon, and produced by Erika and Leif Shackelford. Drawing from references as diverse as The Neuromancer, NIN & riot grrl, the album meditates on universal themes of how we interact with the wider world and how that interaction is increasingly modified by technology. Ratking – So It Goes (Hot Charity)
Following a busy 2013 that saw them playing shows with acts as diverse as GZA, Death Grips, King Krule and Trash Talk, Ratking are ready to release their debut album So It Goes. The album finds the group perfecting the balance between the raw, unbridled energy of their live set and the warm soulful, golden-era hip hop that the members grew up on, aided in large part by engineering from Young Guru (Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G.). SOHN – Tremors (4AD)
Having tantalised with ‘The Wheel’, ‘Bloodflows’ and ‘Lessons’, SOHN has added the final touches to his debut solo album. Eagerly anticipated, Tremors is finally ready to be released. Tremors is the way in which past traumas, as much as past successes, linger like the aftershocks of an earthquake. Even in the calmest moments its effects continue to reverberate and inform who we become. Listen to it here on iTunes
