New Zealand producer BAYNK and rising artist Shallou
release brand new collaboration
Come Home
An effortlessly smooth track evoking a figurative float down a stream of brimming hope and subtle melancholy, Come Home finds BAYNK at his most sharply astute and confident to date. The track is co-produced by Chicago-based artist Shallou and features his signature silky smooth vocal work. Come Home is an early taste of BAYNK‘s forthcoming debut EP, slated for a spring 2017 release.
Born Jock Nowell-Usticke, BAYNK has been on a fast rise over the last year with a string of singles which have amassed 13M+ plays on Spotify to date. Early singles like About Me and Could You began turning heads in early 2016, and it’s been a whirlwind ever since with recent singles What You Need (featuring fellow NZ-native NÏKA) and Poolside further establishing BAYNK as a top new artist to watch.
Shallou (real name Joe Boston) has ridden a similar wave of recent buzz, driven by standout singles Doubt and Begin (ft. Wales) as well as his debut EP All Becomes Okay, released early in 2017. A seasoned musician, producer, and vocalist, Shallou adds his beautiful and dark vocal soundscapes to Come Home. Shallou himself has garnered 25M+ Spotify streams and love from outlets such as The FADER and SPIN.
Of BAYNK‘s break into the scene, Noisey says, “the New Zealand kid puts a song up on Soundcloud in early 2015 while traveling around Europe. He loses his laptop, goes sur?ng for a week and returns to ?nd the track going bonkers. Next he’s on the Laneway Festival line-up and getting emails from music industry people wanting to talk.”
With a structural pop sensibility that sets him on a level of his own, BAYNK‘s releases have earned him early critical praise as well as support from major tastemaker YouTube channels such as Majestic Casual and Chill Nation and hitting #1 on Hype Machine. Known for his sensual textures and layered electronic arrangements, BAYNK has also released notable remixes for gnash’s i hate u, i love u as well as A R I Z O N A’s I Was Wrong.
To add to his fast-growing list of accolades, earlier this year BAYNK participated in a recent Nike collaboration on the track Find You, celebrating Nike’s ‘Air Max Day’ – check it out here.
With major festival plays under his belt such as Laneway Festival, Rhythm & Vines and Rhythm & Alps, as well as a 26-date support run with Matoma, BAYNK plans to bring energetic, live instrumental show to more audiences this year.
