Aotearoa electropop vocalist and producer, Lola unleashes the music video for her latest track ‘Portal.’ Filmed against the breathtaking landscapes of Hunua Falls and Te Henga (Bethells Beach), Lola stars alongside her girlfriend Zoë Gibb (DJ/producer under the pseudonym Zela Somar). The video captures the eerie atmosphere surrounding the local legend of a haunted Siren at Hunua Falls, despite Lola and her team having no prior knowledge of the tale during filming.
Portal’s director Hunter Blair, shares: “Taking on another opportunity to work with Lola was a no brainer. Lola’s pursuit of perfection garners inspiration from those around her, with myself being no exception. To have a tangible piece of art at the end of any creative process is rewarding; however, to stand back and appreciate what she and I have created with the bare minimum means the world to me.”
Guided by Lola’s hypnotic songwriting, ‘Portal’ becomes a gateway to a realm where beauty and darkness intertwine. Transporting you into her world with vulnerability and raw intimacy, Lola explores love’s depths while shining a light on queer romance.
Looking ahead, Lola is gearing up for an array of exciting projects. From gracing the stage at NZ Fashion Week in August to unveiling a live session video for NZ Music Month, Lola’s creative journey is in full swing. Keep an eye on this emerging talent as she forges her path in the New Zealand music landscape.
