Jim Legxacy kick starts the run into the release of his much anticipated new mixtape with new single aggressive’, his first release on new label home XL Recordings. Both a modern heartbreak anthem, and a call back to the greats of the past, sampling Chip’s classic ‘Oopsy Daisy’, this is a signature Jim Legxacy cut. With the kaleidoscope of genres that he has already confidently explored, Jim settles into his melodic, heartfelt vocals, expertly paired with a melancholic, smooth dancehall beat, ‘aggressive’ truly cements him as a leader of the next generation in Black British music. The single is accompanied by a video, directed by Fidel, that was shot entirely on a Blackberry.

Jim Legxacy – aggressive

Earlier this summer, Jim released ‘nothings changed (!)’ – a song for his sister who tragically passed away almost a year ago. A huge loss for himself and his close family, Jim took time out to channel his grief into his writing. The power and restorative force of doing so helped him get through such sadness. He launched the single with a hugely-praised debut live show at The Albany in Deptford, surrounded by friends, family (mum with a front row seat) and day one fans. A magical evening that showcased the magnitude of Jim’s realness and rapturous appeal amongst peers and admirers, it was here that Jim announced his upcoming project Black British Music (2024).

Praise for Jim Legxacy

“From Aphex Twin to Jai Paul, the UK has a proud tradition of tinkerers creating whole worlds in their bedrooms. Legxacy could be the next in that lineage” P4K’s 100 Best Albums of 2020’s So Far

“What Legxacy is building is more than fandom, it’s community… At his first live show, his prowess is palpable, but it’s his radical tenderness and resilient optimism which makes his glow all the brighter.” CLASH

“One of Britain’s brightest talents, Jim Legxacy is a paradigm of modern artistry.”  Wonderland

“It’s a testament to his ability to transform profound sorrow into a beautiful musical expression, resonating deeply with those who have experienced loss.”  GRM Daily

Newly signed to XL Recordings, Jim is due to release the mixtape next year. Black British Music (2024) is a depiction of Jim’s experience of living and surviving in South East London as he navigates the ever-changing personal, socio-political and musical landscape with the positive support of his tight friendship network. Jim’s evolved, yet still unique and arresting sound continues to draw influence from r’n’b, pop, grime, midwest emo, afro beats and alternative and marks him as one of the most culturally important artists the UK has to offer.

Music has always formed part of Jim’s identity. His artistic journey properly began in 2018, dropping multiple singles and two longer form projects (Dynasty, Citadel) which displayed his artistic growth, versatility, and vulnerability, all whilst battling homelessness. 2023 saw him release his latest mixtape Homeless N*gga Pop Music to widespread critical acclaim. Jim has already garnered support and cosigns from fellow artists including Dave, Stormzy, Central Cee, Headie One, Skepta, Loski, Jack Harlow and recently Fred again.. who brought Jim in to collaborate on “ten” for his latest album ten days.
