Just days after being announced as a top 20 finalist for the 2020 Silver Scroll Award, Reb Fountain has sold out her first Auckland show at the historic Mercury Theatre. The highly-anticipated tour, supporting Fountain‘s much-celebrated New Zealand Top 5 album, has been selling strongly nationwide since its announcement.
Happily, a second Auckland show is today announced for the following night of Sunday, November 15th.
Fountain is thrilled with the response from fans, commenting, “The kindness of fans, supporting my work and listening to my music during this very surreal time has meant so much. The band and I are so happy we get to say thank you and share the love and our music to more folks for a second show at the beautiful Mercury Theatre. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on the road!”
The October / November album release shows will be the first full-band performance since the WOMAD festival back in March. Since then Fountain has spearheaded the ‘Save Our Venues’ campaign to ensure treasured spaces for kiwi musicians and audiences alike remained viable post the lockdown/no trading restrictions. The campaign was highly successful, raising near half a million dollars to keep venues’ doors open and nourish the communities they support.
Not one to rest on her laurels, during the same period, Fountain challenged herself to write a new song every day. She has since been developing and fleshing out those ideas with musical compadre, Dave Khan, who also co-produced the latest album. Watch this space for more about that.
Fountain‘s critically acclaimed self-titled new album is now in stores on LP, CD and digitally via Flying Nun Records.
