Today, singer-songwriter and producer Ruthven releases his new single ‘123 Days’. Flexing a different side to his multilayered productions, Ruthven follows recent single ‘Don’t Keep It To Yourself’ with this infectious drum-led track; adding to his growing catalog of timeless music.
‘123 Days’ premiered as part of the recent Paul Institute Presents: Ruthven Live at 180 The Strand showcase, following October’s release of ‘Don’t Keep It To Yourself’ – a single which was titled one of the best tracks by the likes of The Fader and The Face Magazine. The London-based musician’s new material follows previous singles ‘Have You Decided?’ and ‘Hypothalamus/Evil’ which were released under Jai and A. K. Paul’s ‘drops’ via Paul Institute.
Speaking on the creation of the new record, Ruthven says –
“123 Days came out of a tough time for me: struggling to finish music, frustrated, running out of money and burning out from a workaholic lifestyle. My head was in a mess but somehow all that angst came together into something joyous, happy and positive. Musically it’s a bit different; less soul / R&B and more alternative, world music and rock-y. I definitely had a Talking Heads marathon when I was making it, not trying to wear it on my sleeve, but a little nod is cool.”
