Today, sophie meiers releases ‘let me breathe,’ a grunge-alt track featuring a thorny, propulsive synth bass that provides a hypnotic, steady pulse under sophie’s silver-tongued vocals.
The song is accompanied by a sci-fi music video directed by Lindsey Nico Mann, bedizened with white powdered alienesque make-up and an oxygen mask.
sophie says of the new single, “‘let me breathe’ is the feeling of the real world around you obscuring as you lose yourself in your own thoughts. Overlapping voices become muffled. Eyes phase out of focus. You watch the people around you moving and interacting like actors on a set. There is an eerie sense of solitude among a crowd of people. A voice slices through your trance, and you are back.”
Hailing from a small mountain town in Colorado, sophie (they/them) became obsessed with music at a young age, propelled by the myriad of resources that the internet holds. They left home at 15, paving their own way through creative ingenuity, the singer, songwriter, visual artist, and producer emerged from the SoundCloud community, creating genre-spanning songs that sound like 90’s Gwen Stefani produced by Trent Reznor.
