Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Sunbeam Sound Machine makes his return with new audio dreamscape ‘I Promise That I’ll Try to Give You All My Love’ which received it’s first play on triple j’s Home & Hosed last night. The single arrives alongside the announcement of his third album Possum out on Friday, 7th October via Dot Dash / Remote Control Records.
‘I Promise That I’ll Try to Give You All My Love’ is an uplifting respite replete with fluttering synths and reverb-soaked vocals. On the content theme, the man behind the moniker – Nick Sowersby – muses “This song is about love giving meaning to a world that can at times feel like a dark place. The line ‘Sometimes it’s fucked how much the world can get you down/Sometimes it’s fucked how much I can love you’ serves as a mission statement for the album as a whole, love overcoming fear.
The video accompaniment solely features Sowersby taking to an empty stage to perform, “The video is kind of a representation of the creative process, riding the balance of confidence and delusion in a vacuum. It was also fun to really go for it on the tambourine.”
Since debut album Wonderer served to introduce the project back in 2014, Sunbeam Sound Machine has amassed over 35 million Spotify streams and beautifully resonated with audiences in Australia and abroad; particularly in the United States, where Wonderer’s release on the Echo Drug Recordings opened Sowersby up to what remains one of his most successful territories to date.
“Beautifully blissed-out” (Brooklyn Vegan) sophomore effort Goodness Gracious saw Sunbeam Sound Machine debut at #10 on the NACC (North American College and Community Chart) furthering his audience with the hypnotic release.
